The Skilled Nominated visa is a permanent residence visa for points-test skilled workers who want to work and live in Australia after being nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency.

Before being able to apply for this visa, an applicant will need to submit an expression of interest and then be invited through SkillSelect to apply.

This visa involves a two-step process:

  • 1 - Submission of Expression of Interest through SkillSelect to be nominated to work in Australia by an Australian State or Territory
  • 2 - Lodgement of visa application within specified time

Upon receiving a nomination by an Australian State or Territory, the applicant will then be invited to apply for a Skilled Nominated Visa.

Criteria to apply:

  • Nominate an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • Obtained a suitable skills assessment for that occupation
  • Not yet turned 50 years of age
  • Achieved the score specified in your letter of invitation based on the factors in the points test
  • Have the required skills and qualifications for the position
  • Appropriate English language skills (at the time of application lodgement), unless exempt
  • Meet health and character requirements
